Rain Barrel Art Project Barrel Care & Maintenance

Thank you for purchasing a rain barrel from the Rain Barrel Art Project. The money raised from the auction goes towards environmental education at SaveLocalWaters.org and the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden. Each rain barrel comes with a diverter kit that allows each barrel to become a functioning rain barrel.

Don't forget to check your local ordinances before installing your rain barrel.

Barrel Maintenance

At the end of each season when you unhook the rain barrel and get it ready for winter we recommend giving it another layer of clear coat to help preserve the artwork for many years to come. There are several brands that work to seal the surface: Thompson's Water Sealer for Outdoor/Exterior, Krylon Lacquer Specialty Gloss Clear Spray Sealer, or Minwax Polyurethane Spray Sealer.
